Welcome Back Letter 2019-2020

  • Hello and welcome to the 2019-20 school year from the Special Education Department!

    Within this welcome back letter to families and students you will find information regarding:

    As we continue to move forward as a District to meet the needs of all of our students, we have added key information and resources for parents on our website. These key documents help share who we are as a department and the work that we do for all of our students and families. Please visit https://www.opschools.org/domain/31 to find information such as:

    • A FAQ document highlighting key terms and questions/answers
    • A document that outlines our continuum offerings in the District
    • Our long-range Special Education Plan
    • Transition supports for students and families

      Also, for your planning information, Open House information for Orchard Park can be found on our District Calendar (https://www.opschools.org/Page/10#calendar10418/20190920/month). Further information will be shared by each of our buildings leading up to Open House opportunities. For our students and families who are in BOCES programs, dates for their Open Houses are located below. If you have any questions regarding the dates/opportunities below, please contact your child’s teacher/principal directly as they will have the most pertinent and up to date information.

    Special Education Leadership Council:
    Our Special Education Leadership Council includes two parent representatives for the 2019-20 school year. For further information, please visit our web-site (https://www.opschools.org/Page/134).

    Parent Information Meetings at OPCSD:
    We would like to offer three opportunities during the course of the 2019-20 school year to invite all parents/guardians of students with special needs to District Office (2240 Southwestern Boulevard, West Seneca, NY 14224) for an opportunity to share information, perspectives, and ask questions. Dates and times for these opportunities are:
    Monday, September 30 at 10 am
    Monday, December 2 at 6 pm
    Monday, April 6 at 10 am
