2019-2020 Parent Information Series

  • The Orchard Park Central School District will be hosting a Parent Information Series during the 2019 - 2020 school year.  During the 2018-2019 school year the District hosted a Parent Information Series specifically on Mental and Social Emotional Health.  Parents were surveyed at the end of the series and their strongest areas of interest were selected for the 2019-2020 series.

    Orchard Park Central School District’s Parent Information Series continued with a Teen Driving Safety presentation offered virtually on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 7 p.m.

    The Orchard Park Police Department and the Orchard Park Central School District presented the dangers of distracted driving, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, license restrictions for permit holders and junior drivers, vehicle and traffic laws, pedestrians and other safety issues. This presentation is for both teenagers and their parents.

    Internet Safety

    October 23, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Orchard Park High School Auditorium

    The Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the FBI will present internet safety strategies to parents while increasing awareness of online risks. Concerns such as: cyberbullying, revealing too much personal information, sexting and online predators will be discussed.

    Emotional Resiliency

    November 5, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Orchard Park High School Auditorium.

    Mr. Brooks Gibbs, an award winning social skills educator will be sharing a message of emotional resilience through a captivating and entertaining presentation. His message has two main principles: don’t get upset and treat them like a friend.

    Vaping

    February 25, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Orchard Park High School Auditorium.
    March 12, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Orchard Park Middle School Auditorium.

    Roswell Park and the Erie County Health Department will offer their presentation both February 25, & March 12. The presentation will provide general medical information related to vaping and its addictive effects on teens and adults and the harmful side effects of nicotine on the developing teen brain. Intervention options will be discussed.
