Free and Reduced Meals During Extended School Closure

  • The district’s transportation department has been delivering approximately 550 breakfasts and lunches to eligible children in our school district.  We understand some parents may now suddenly find themselves unemployed, and we are here to support your children. Please email Jeff Petrus at jpetrus@opschools.org if you find that your family is now in need due to a loss of employment.

    Message to families April 8

    Dear Parents & Guardians,

The Orchard Park Central School District is updating the home meal delivery schedule. The district will still be providing daily breakfast and lunch to children in all families in financial need, however we are changing the delivery schedule to 3 days per week to minimize the potential exposure of our food service and transportation department staff to the virus.   Beginning this Thursday, the meal delivery will be as follows:

Thursday, April 9, delivery will include:

     - Thursday Breakfast & Lunch
    - Friday Breakfast & Lunch
    - Saturday Breakfast & Lunch
    - Sunday Breakfast & Lunch

Beginning Monday, April 13, the following schedule will be in place until further notice:

Monday's delivery - Breakfast for Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday
                               - Lunch for Monday & Tuesday

Wednesday's delivery - Breakfast for Thursday & Friday
                                    - Lunch for Wednesday & Thursday

Friday's delivery - Breakfast for Saturday & Sunday
                             - Lunch for Friday, Saturday & Sunday

If you have any questions or if you know of any families that recently have a financial need for home meal delivery please contact Mr. Jeff Petrus at: jpetrus@opschools.org.

    Please stay healthy and safe!

    Message to families March 26

Beginning this Friday, March 27, 2020 the Orchard Park Central School District will be delivering breakfasts for the following weekend in addition to breakfast and lunch for that day.   On Friday, April 3, 2020 the district will include both breakfasts and lunches for the following weekend in the Friday meal delivery.  All Fridays moving forward will include 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches for each eligible child.

The meals are left on the front doorstep of the home.  The district along with the transportation staff is practicing social distancing.  Please wait for the employee to walk away before opening your door to retrieve your meals. Please be aware there may be perishables in the meal.

On March 19, 2020 the Orchard Park Central School District transportation department staff began delivering one breakfast and one lunch per eligible student to families at their primary home address daily, Monday – Friday between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

If you do not wish to receive meals delivered to your home or need to change the address for the drop off, please send an email to Mr. Joe Haier, Director of Transportation at jhaier@opschools.org.

If you are aware of any newly eligible families that would benefit from the daily meal delivery due to new financial circumstances, please have that family contact Jeff Petrus at: jpetrus@opschools.org.   They can then be added to the next day’s meal delivery.
