Summer 2021 Message

  • Dear Orchard Park Families:

I hope that everyone is enjoying some much needed rest and relaxation this summer.  I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself during my transition into this exciting leadership opportunity in both a district and community that I love!

First, I wanted to begin by sharing how grateful I am to be serving the Orchard Park Central School District community as Superintendent.   I want to thank our teachers, administrators, support staff, parents and community members for their support during the last several weeks.   I am also appreciative for the support I have received from the Board of Education and from our previous superintendent, Matt McGarrity, during the transition.

While I know many of our families as a resident and an administrator in the district over the course of the last 13 years, I would like to share a little bit about myself for those of you who may not know me.

Personally, my wife Sherrie and I are the proud parents of our daughter, an Orchard Park graduate, and our twin sons who attend Orchard Park High School.   As a family, we know firsthand the outstanding work our teachers and staff do to prepare our students and support our families.  We are extremely proud and fortunate to live, work, and collaborate with amazing educators and families in Orchard Park.  Professionally, I have served the district as the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel & Pupil Services. Prior to that, I served as the middle school principal and a house principal in our high school.

As we look forward, our plans and preparation for the upcoming school year are well underway.  Instructional programming has already begun for students as our summer academic programs, including our newly designed Quaker Camp, which began last week.   Over the course of the last few months, Dr. Krueger, our Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Pupil Services, our administrative team, and our teacher leaders have built an amazing program to meet the needs of students within this extended school year opportunity.  As the summer continues to unfold and further information regarding the 2021- 22 school year is shared with school districts by the New York State Education Department and the New York State Department of Health,  we will update our district community with pertinent details and information they need as we prepare to begin the 2021-2022 school year.

Finally, I wanted to take a moment to introduce our new administrators that have joined, or will be joining, our team this summer.    I am excited to announce and introduce:

    • Mrs. Diana Nigro, who began serving as Principal of Ellicott Elementary on July 12,  2021.
    • Dr. Dean Ramierz, who will begin serving as the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Pupil Services beginning on August 9, 2021.
    • Mr. Brandon Hafner, who will begin serving as the high school House 1 Principal beginning on July 23, 2021.
    • Mrs. Minser Bernys, who began serving the district as our Director of Special Education on June 21, 2021.
    • Dr. Paul Pieitrantone, who began serving the district as the Director of Special Programs on July 1, 2021.
    • Ms. Kristin Guadagno, Head Bus Driver,  who began serving the district as the Head Bus Driver on July 1, 2021.

I am looking forward to continuing our great partnership and collaboration with all members of the Orchard Park Central School District community as we embrace the many exciting opportunities that are in store for our school district in the coming months and years!

    David Lilleck
    Superintendent of Schools
