School Safety - School Safety & District Safety Plan

  • The Board of Education annually adopts the Orchard Park Central School District Safety Plan.  According to state law, the district-wide plan is shared publicly, however, individual school safety plans are confidential.

The Orchard Park Central School District is committed to supporting a safe learning environment for all.  In accordance with New York State's Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE), the District Safety Plan outlines our prevention, intervention, and response efforts.  Further, in alignment with the New York State Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), New York State school safety regulations and our District's commitment to character education, all staff participate in training in the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, mental health awareness training, and are trained to respond to emergency situations.

School building safety plans are in place at all Orchard Park schools detailing how to respond to emergencies.  Each school has a safety committee, and designated staff members who have been trained to respond in emergency situations.

During an emergency, our priority is to insure student safety.  Our District, in coordination with government officials and first responder agencies, will make every effort to regularly and accurately communicate information to parents.  Please be sure the school has current phone numbers to reach you or your designee, as we may utilize telephone/text communication directly to parents in addition to communications using media (website, local news stations, etc.) in the event of an emergency.
