Summer ELA Practice - Let your reading skills grow all summer long!

  • Why should I read this summer?

Click on the attachment below to see how powerful that reading 20 minutes every day can be to your child. It's pretty astounding!

Over the summer, please continue to encourage your child to read at least 30 minutes every day! We want students to continue to grow as readers all summer long, not only because it's important as a life skill, but because we want them to be ready to enter their 5th grade year on a strong note.

Here are a few websites with cool (no pun intended!) summer reading activity ideas:

You can also click on our South Davis Resources page (passwords are listed) and go to any of the websites provided by our district. Tumblebooks is one of my favorites for listening to some really great books read aloud! The books there range from beginner readers, to chapter books...there are even books there on the American Revolution (which we studied during one of our workshops this year!) While there, be sure to check out the Robert Munsch books...he is narrating his own stories!

I will have practice packets for all 4th graders available for your children to take home for extra summer practice, as well. Please encourage your child to complete them and bring them back to me (completed) in September for a special prize.

I wish you a safe and happy summer with your family. Thanks for being a part of our awesome 4th grade year!
