    Dear Parents,

Welcome to June! We made it! We are wrapping up all of our units. It will be a busy but exciting time coming up in the next 3 weeks! Today was special because the kids earned another Marble Cup party! We celebrated with S’mores cupcakes, and extra Recess. The kids sure do deserve it!

We had a great time on our field trip to the Hamburg fairgrounds on Tuesday. The kids had the opportunity to learn about dairy products, and how they are produced. They met two baby cows (ask your child to tell you their names!) and made delicious butter! Please make sure your child brought home the free ticket to the Erie County Fair! What a nice surprise!

This week we had a “celebration” of our countries project. We went to Mrs. Besecker’s classroom to watch all of the Touch Cast videos the kids made. I was really impressed with their technological skills. This is the first time I’ve ever taught Touch Cast, and the first time the kids have ever used it. I hope they continue to use it so they can share all of the amazing things they’re learning!

In Science we took the butterfly test today. We’re still learning about frogs, but I will not be testing the kids on this unit. One of our tadpoles is finally in the froglet stage. Bubba, our biggest guy, has tiny legs and adorable little webbed feet. Next week we’ll be learning about inherited and acquired traits.

In Social Studies the China unit is wrapping up. The final test will be on Monday, June 12th. The only way that will change is if field day happens to be rained out on June 8th. Then we will have the test that day instead. The way this spring has been going, that’s a real possibility. Please have your child prepared for the test on the 8th just in case.

In Math we are reviewing fractions. The final test is on Wednesday, June 7th. I sent home a study guide to help your child prepare over the weekend.

Please take a look around your house for any library books, as they are due next week. Overdue notices will be sent home shortly.

Thank you to all of the parents who have sent in slips about Career Day! We’re all looking forward to it!

Have a fantastic weekend!                                  Mrs. Hanlon
