• Dear Families:

    Students in grades 3-5 will soon be taking the New York State English Language Arts (ELA) Assessment and Mathematics Assessment, and Grade 4 students will take the Science Assessment. These assessments The tests are a measure of where students are in their progress relative to the NYS standards for their grade level in Math, Science, and ELA. They also provide our school with information about how our overall program works relative to the standards, so we can make adjustments to instruction, resources, and assessments if necessary.

    In the event that your child is ill on testing days, there will be assessment make-up days. If you know that your child will be absent, or becomes sick the morning of, please remember to call the automated attendance line at 209-6219 to report the absence.

    As in the past, each assessment will be given over two days for a total of four days of assessment for ELA and Math.  The assessments are untimed, allowing all students to complete each session at their own pace.

    The schedule is as follows:

    Dates - English Language Arts (ELA) Assessment (2 sessions)
    Tuesday, March 29 (Day 1) - Session 1 - Reading
    Wednesday, March 30 - Session 2 (Day 2) - Writing
    Make-up Dates:  Thursday, March 31 to Friday, April 8

    Mathematics Assessment (2 sessions)
    Tuesday, April 26 (Day 4) - Session 1
    Wednesday, April 27 (Day 5) - Session 2
    Make-up Dates:  Thursday, April 28- Monday, May 9

    Grade 4 Science Assessment (2 sessions)
    Hands-on Performance Session:  Friday, May 27 (Day 3)
    Written Component: Monday, June 6 (Day 2)
    Make-up Dates:  Tuesday, June 7 – Friday, June 10

    These assessments will be given during the morning of the designated testing days. Please make every effort to make sure that your child is here on time for the assessments. We are unable to administer the assessments outside of the make-up windows.
