Mrs. Patricia Sachse
My name is Mrs. Sachse and I will be teaching grade 8 Science this year with Mrs. Staebell on Quantum Base. I will also be supporting students in Spanish period 7 with Senora Loftus for the third year.
This is my thirty-first year of teaching. I graduated from SUNY Fredonia in 1987 with my bachelor’s in Special Education. Teaching MS and HS American History and Occupational Education for five years in another district before coming to Orchard Park in 1991, helped me to realize how great MS students are! My master's degree in Special Education was completed at Buffalo State College in 1991 and I continued to pursue a degree in educational leadership and administration until becoming a mother to my eldest son, Addison who now lives in Colorado working as a Packaging Engineer. Windom Elementary was my first teachin experience in OP before moving to Ellicott as Resource Room and Consultant Teacher. For the past five years I have been teaching Resource Room here at OPMS. My husband Rob and I once again have an empty nest at home since our younger son Ethan moved into Buffalo to continue pursuing his degree at the University of Buffalo. In my free time I love spending time with my family and friends. I love everything art related; painting, drawing, scrapbooking, photography and crafting. Staying busy with sports; playing golf, softball, biking, kayaking, hunting, snowboarding and skiing keeps me moving year round. Traveling has taken me to about half of the states, and many European countries. Creative problem solving and Destination Imagination have been a big part of my life for many years. I love to read and spend time with my book club friends. In retirement I hope to write and illustrate children's books. As you can see, I love to learn and I hope to instill that love of learning in my students. I sincerely hope to make Science fun for us all, so that you will want to be a life-long lover of all things, including Science (and Spanish)!Favorites...Book: Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and RedemptionMovie: Forrest GumpGames: Boggle, Scrabble (Words with Friends) and Legos!Color: greenFood: spaghettiAnimal: rabbitsSport: BMXPlace: ItalyMy favorite part about my job is showing my students that they are capable of more than they believe they are capable of.
