A Message from the Principal
Dear South Davis Families,
In case you missed it, we recently reached an important milestone: Friday, February 12 was the 100th day of the school year! It is a day that is celebrated with enthusiasm, especially among our Kindergarten classes, where counting to 100 is a critical mathematical skill. This year the 100th day coincided with Valentine’s Day festivities and the start of mid-winter break, which brought the energy level way up.
We also unveiled our newest music video on February 12, set to the song "Moment of Truth". South Davis' Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee chose to make the video in an effort to create a positive sense of unity within the building since we are unable to do many traditional activities like assemblies this year. Check it out here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frfn4By0rbU
We were especially struck by the lyrics:
“It's about reaching out, closing up the distance
Instead of hate, celebrate all the ways we're different
I am optimistic, yes, I do believe
We have the power to make this world a better place”
We plan to connect other school-wide activities and character- and team-building efforts around these concepts. In March, we will focus on being Responsible. One definition of responsible is, “having the job or duty of dealing with or taking care of something or someone.” Another meaning is being, “able to be trusted to do what is right or to do the things that are expected or required.” I encourage you to talk about responsibility, how you as a family exhibit it and what each of us can do to support each other as we do our best to do what we know is right and expected.
