Orchard Park Middle School students held a “Storm of Generosity” from September 25th – 29th to benefit schools effected by hurricanes; Harvey, Irma and Maria. Throughout the week homerooms competed to raise the most money to benefit schools effected by the hurricanes. Students rallied around this cause and raised $3,000 in just one week! Executive Council students; Nolan Watson, Mia Popp, Jeremiah Burnett, Bowen Slotman, Ava Wawrzyniec and Ryan Heraty originally came up with the idea to have a fundraiser to benefit schools impacted by hurricane Harvey at their retreat over the summer. From that point the idea evolved as Irma and Maria impacted Florida and Puerto Rico. The Executive Council students planned and coordinated this effort with the help of advisors; Mrs. Kate Cullen, Mrs. Wendy Daniszewski and Mr. Dan Miller. The students created and posted flyers throughout the building, passed out envelopes to each homeroom, collected the envelopes from the homerooms and counted the funds that were raised. The students stayed after school on multiple occasions to make this fundraiser possible. The students hope to make a positive impact on those who have been negatively affected by the hurricanes.

We ask that you schedule an appointment with your child's physician if they will be in one of those grades in September 2018. The Orchard Park Central School District is continuing the successful 1:1 Chromebook program for all students in grades 4 through 12. The Chromebook model used for this initiative is the Lenovo Yoga 11e. This is a ruggedized Chromebook model that was specifically designed for education and meets military-specification guidelines for ruggedness, durability, and quality. In addition, the District purchases protective MAXCase clamshell covers for the Chromebooks that have polycarbonate shock absorbing edges. Lenovo warrants the Chromebook from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year. The warranty is valid for 12 months from the time that Orchard Park Central Schools takes delivery of the Chromebooks. The limited warranty covers normal use, mechanical breakdown, or faulty construction and will provide replacement parts necessary to repair or if necessary, replace the Chromebook. Lenovo DOES NOT warrant against damage caused by misuse, abuse or accidents. Chromebook damage including cracked screens and damages due to accidents or abuse can incur repair costs up to the cost of the device. Lost or stolen Chromebooks increase that cost to approximately $290.00 for replacement. As part of the 1:1 initiative, the District has partnered with Worth Ave. Group to provide an optional, affordable insurance option that will cover the Chromebook your child will be using.
