Students are responsible for the device(s) issued to them and are asked to treat them with appropriate care as expected for all school property. A one year manufacturer warranty protects the Chromebook and calculator from defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, loss or accidents.
Orchard Park Central School District has partnered with Worth Ave. Group to offer an affordable insurance program for school issued student devices for the 2019-20 school year. The insurance is optional, however it is highly recommended. This is our third year working with Worth Ave. Group and they have provided a high level of affordable service that is coordinated through the district so that families do not have to be involved in handling claims for damaged devices covered by the insurance.
Insurance with Worth Ave. Group* will protect the Chromebook and/or calculator against:
- Accidental damage (includes drops, cracked screens, liquid spills)
- Theft, burglary, and robbery (with a police report)
- Fire, flood, power surge and natural disaster
The insurance policy does not cover the following situations:
- When a student has lost their Chromebook/calculator and/or its' accessories,
- Damage caused by intentional misuse or abuse, or cosmetic
In cases where insurance is not purchased, Parents/Students will be required to pay for loss, intentional or excessive damage/breakage to instructional computer hardware up to the device value. (See OPCSD Policy 8340)
Please see the file below for how to sign up for the additional insurance.
