Last spring, seventh grade ELA students were able to craft a poem or poems under the guidance of a visiting poet from Just Buffalo Literary Center. This visit was made possible by a grant from the Orchard Park Foundation for Academic Excellence. Students were able to meet the poet and were guided in various methods of crafting poetry, as well as helped individually with their own writing. Just Buffalo then selected the top poems from across Western New York to include in their annual anthology. Fifteen students from OPMS were selected for inclusion.
The visit was organized by middle school librarians Paul Kloster and Christine Tempestoso as well as the 7th grade ELA teachers Karen O'Brien, Mike Spillman, and Lindsey Buck.
Congratulations to the Middle School students who were selected!
